Camera Phone

I’ve decided, after seeing almost everyone else I know having one, that I want a camera phone. I don’t want just any camera phone either. I do have a (small) list of features I would like it to have. I would like it to have:
1) the ability to play mp3 ringtones. I’m sick of polyphonic tones. I want to hear the real thing.
2) a removable memory card for the pics (and maybe the mp3s too)
3) bluetooth connectivity.

It doesn’t matter to me if it’s a clamshell phone or not but it would be nice if it had a decent internal antenna so I wouldn’t have to worry about snapping it off.

IceRocket.com

I was looking through my website’s stats and I was focusing on the unknown browsers list to see what it deemed as “Unknown”. On that list were a bunch of RSS feed reading programs, some podcatching software, web bots, and a program called BlogzIce. The nice thing is next to most of these unknown programs/browsers are the URLs for their homepage. Next to BlogzIce was it’s address. So I decided to check it out. It looks a lot like Google except it can search for blogs, moblogs, and people. It would be nice if my webhosts software could classify the RSS feed readers and podcatching programs as such instead of “Unknown”.

My New Blog

I have a new blog on this site. I originally had Blogger but didn’t like that it doesn’t support true RSS feeds (Blogger uses Atom) and Blogger doesn’t care if the blogs are valid XHTML. WordPress, the platform my blog is on now, does use a real RSS feed and does conform to W3C standards. I also switched because I plan on getting into podcasting which is why the RSS feed matters to me.

MacGyver on DVD!!!

I was in Barnes & Noble earlier today to buy my father’s birthday gift, the Ray soundtrack, and I noticed MacGyver - The Complete First Season will be released next Tuesday. The best thing is it’s only going to be about $40. I’m definitely going to be there next Tuesday to pick myself up a copy.

The Daily Source Code

After my first podcast, Coverville, I decided to check out the creator of podcasting Adam Curry. When I first heard about podcasting and the program I now use, iPodder, I read about Adam Curry. Now, being an 80’s child, the first thing that came to my mind was “The guy that created iPodder has the same name as an original MTV VJ.” It wasn’t until after I checked out his personal site that I realized that the reason he has the same name as the MTV VJ is because he IS the MTV VJ. Of course, this is from back in the day when MTV actually played videos 24/7 instead of early in the morning and then filling the rest of the day with programs like Real World and Room Raiders. Now that I’m getting into the whole podcasting thing, I’m thinking about creating my own. It took me 3 years to finally start a blog even though I had signed up with Blogger. Who knows how long it would take me to create my own podcast. First I would have to decide what the podcast is going to be about.

Coverville

I was checking out The Covers Project and found a link to Coverville. Coverville is a podcast site featuring the best and worst cover songs. It has become the first podcast I download every day.

Podcasting

Before I got my iPod, I heard about podcasting. Podcasting is to audio what RSS is to text. You subscribe to a feed and then download the feeds onto an mp3 player to listen to later. What really got me was who had a part in the creation of the software to grab the podcasts. Adam Curry. If that name doesn’t sound familiar, then you’re either weren’t around in the 80’s or you didn’t have MTV when it first came out. Adam Curry is one of the original MTV VJ’s (from when they used to actually play music videos). I want to get into podcasting but so far I haven’t found anything worth listening to. It would be nice if Opie & Anthony were available through podcast since I haven’t heard their show since they got taken off the air in New York 2 years ago.

del.icio.us

del.icio.us is a social bookmark manager. It’s basically an online bookmark manager, so if you’re surfing the web from another computer, you can still get to all your bookmarks. It also lets you share your bookmarks with others so you can find other sites that may interest you.

2 New Mac Products

Yesterday during MacWorld 2005, Steve Jobs (CEO of Apple) announced the iPod shuffle and Mac mini. The iPod shuffle is the first flash-based iPod. Up until now they’ve all been hard drive based. There will be 2 different iPod shuffles, a 512MB for $99 and a 1GB for $149. The Mac mini starts at $499 and is designed and priced to help convince any Windows users that have been thinking of buying a Mac to finally get one. I plan on getting a Mac anyway soon but I’m not sure if I’ll get the Mac mini. I’ll either go with the eMac or the iMac.
