iTunes 4.9

iTunes 4.9 was released today and one of the new features is podcasting. Apple has finally embraced the idea of podcasts and podcasting. Not only can you subscribe to different podcasts through iTunes, but you can also create your own and submit it to Apple’s directory which is pretty much the same as Adam Curry’s iPodder.org. I’m going to check it out for about a week or so and decide if I want to use iTunes for my podcasts or stay with iPodder lemon. So far it’s having a hard time with a few of the shows I subscribe to, no matter if I subscribe through the iTunes music store or manually add the URL.

Editor’s Pick

I just got home from being in Englishtown for the day and I find out in my email that I am the editor’s pick of the day over at Textamerica. The pic is of Ashley Force, daughter of NHRA 10 time champion Funny Car driver John Force. It definitely was a surprise. I’ll have to take more photos at the track tomorrow and post them.

Stone Living Room Destroyed

One of my favorite Weird NJ spots, the Stone Living Room, has been destroyed by vandals. For those of you who don’t know, the Stone Living Room was/is located in West Milford on top of a mountain in Norvin Green State Forest. The Stone Living Room was a large stone couch is a semicircle with a few “end tables” surrounding a fire. It looks like it was right out of the Flintstones. Thankfully, there is an effort underway, by fellow Weird NJ fans, to reconstruct the Living Room early next month.

Yankees To Announce New Stadium Deal

The New York Yankees, my favorite baseball team since I was a kid, will be announcing plans for a new stadium across the street from the present stadium today. It would look like the original Yankee Stadium from when Babe Ruth played, including the facade around the inside of the building, but have the present field dimensions of the current stadium. Since they are staying in the Bronx, they can keep the name Yankee Stadium, which I hope they do, instead of having some company name attached to it.

MacGyver Actor Dead At 77

Dana Elcar, who played Peter Thornton on the show MacGyver, died last monday (June 7, 2005) of complications from pneumonia at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura. He was 77. I just heard about it today when I was going through some of the RSS feeds I subscribe to. It really is quite sad to see him go. I am a big fan of MacGyver so it would sadden me to see any of the regulars on the show pass away.

Restoration

When you delete a file on your computer, it doesn’t disappear. The operating system just has the ability to overwrite the area on the hard drive where the file resides. Restoration is a file recovery program. It lets you scan your whole hard drive or search for specific keywords or file names. Find your file and click Restore by Copying. You should restore the file to a different drive from the original. If you select the same drive, Restoration warns you that you may accidentally overwrite the file with itself, destroying it.

MacGyver Second Season On DVD

MacGyver - The Complete Second Season came out today and I just had to pick it up to go along with the copy of MacGyver - The Complete First Season I have. While I was creating this post, I found out Amazon.com already has MacGyver - The Complete Third Season listed. According to Amazon.com, the third season is scheduled to come out on September 6, 2005, the day after Labor Day. It seems like they’re coming out with a season every 4 months or so. That means I should have all seven seasons by the end of 2006.

H1t Me Baby One More Time

I just got done watching a new show on NBC called H1t Me Baby One More Time. Basically they get 5 old bands/artists to perform one of their hits for the first half hour of the show, and then the same performers cover a current song in the second half hour. Tonight they had Loverboy (Working For The Weekend), A Flock Of Seagulls (I Ran), Arrested Development (Tennessee), CeCe Peniston (Finally), and Tiffany (I Think We’re Alone Now). Next week they’re going to have Tommy Tutone (867-5309 (Jenny)), The Knack (My Sharona), Vanilla Ice (Ice Ice Baby), Haddaway (What Is Love), and The Motels (Only The Lonely). Some of the upcoming artists are Wang Chung (Everybody Wang Chung Tonight), Cameo (Word Up), and Sophie B. Hawkins (Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover). I’m really going to enjoy watching this show since I love the 80’s and lately I’ve gotten into cover songs, partly because of a podcast I’ve been listening to for a while, Coverville.

Spybot Search & Destroy 1.4

Spybot Search & Destroy 1.4 was released today. I’ve been using Spybot S & D for a while now along with Ad-Aware to rid my computer of adware and spyware. They’ve improved the speed of the scanning along with the tools section. The process list now tells you if the application is local or uses connections to the outside.
