Linksys WRT54GL

Linksys as released a “new” router. It’s the same thing as the old WRT54G routers up to version 4. With version 5, the WRT54G router is no longer running linux. The new router is called the Linksys WRT54GL. I might have to pick one of these up while they’re available because Linksys isn’t too sure how many they will sell since it’s now for hobbyists and linux hackers. I’ve already installed a hacked firmware on my current WRT54G router but I would like to install some of the other firmwares on a spare router.

  1. I recently purchased a new laptop computer with a built in WiFi connection. I soon discovered I could connect to my neighbor’s wireless router and use it to surf the Internet. But yesterday I could only receive the most obscene pictures imaginable instead of the Web pages I wanted. Finally, last night this neighbor laughingly told me that when he realized someone else was using his service, he disconnected the wireless router from the Internet and connected it to an old computer. Then he reconfigured the router so that anytime a Web page was requested, it would instead just send a randomly selected obscene picture. But he would not tell me how he managed to do that. I know he was using a Linksys WRT-54GL. Could you post the information necessary to show exactly how this can be done?
