Fantasy Drag Racing

I’ve heard of fantasy football, fantasy baseball, and even fantasy hockey. When I was visiting NHRA.com tonight, I found fantasy drag racing. You pick 8 drivers from 3-4 different classes (depending on whether or not Pro Stock Bike is racing that weekend). You earn points for each of those drivers based on where they qualify and how far they go in eliminations. You can even join/create a private league, just like other fantasy sports leagues, and compete against other people you know.

Part Of My Childhood Just Died

As the title says, part of my childhood has died. I just found out yesterday from a friend of mine that my father’s old shop 133 Rt. 22, Green Brook, NJ has been torn down. I’ve known this has been coming for over a year now so it was just a matter of time before it got knocked down. I’m really sad to see it go since I spent many weekends there with my father when I was growing up. It’s especially sad for me to see it go since before it was Truppi-Kling High Performance, it belonged to my maternal grandfather. Then, it was known as Coddington Auto. My father used to work for my grandfather and that’s where he learned everything he knows about cars. When I used to go there on weekends with my father, I used to dream that one day I’d be going there and working on my future wife’s car and my future kid’s car. Now, I hold a small grudge against Commerce Bank because if they weren’t so gung-ho about putting a branch on just about every street corner, then the building would still be standing.

If Only I Had A DeLorean

There’s a company in Texas that sells pre-owned and remanufactured DeLoreans. On top of that, they sell accessories for DeLoreans. Two of the accessories listed in their online store are a flux capacitor and a Mr Fusion home reactor. Unfortunately these are really for sale but it would be cool if they were. The part numbers on them are kinda funny too. The flux capacitor is part number 18851985. The Mr Fusion is part number 19852015A.

2008 All Star Game In The Bronx

I am so excited. The 2008 All Star Game will be held in the Bronx at the house that Ruth Built. That’s right. It’s gonna be at Yankee Stadium. 2008 is the last year for the current Yankee Stadium before they tear it down :( and build a new one across the street. And since 2008’s All Star Game is scheduled to be played in an American League ballpark, Major League Baseball has chosen to play it in Yankee Stadium. Now I have something else to buy tickets for (if I can get them). I’ve been to a World Series game at Yankee Stadium. I’m planning on going to the last regular season game at the current Yankee Stadium and the first game at the new Yankee Stadium. The only thing missing from being a true die hard Yankee fan is going to an All Star Game at Yankee Stadium. The only thing that could make it even better would be if they had a Yankee in every position for one inning at the same time playing against the National League.

Sopranos on A&E

I watched the Sopranos on A&E last night and I was very surprised at how well they edited it. They had to pixelate some stuff but I was really impressed that they had the real actors’ voices dub over the curse words, even though they did allow shit and bullshit to be said.

My Next Cell Phone

Today, Apple finally announced the iPhone. From Apple’s website:

iPhone combines three products — a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching — into one small and lightweight handheld device. iPhone also introduces an entirely new user interface based on a large multi-touch display and pioneering new software, letting you control everything with just your fingers. So it ushers in an era of software power and sophistication never before seen in a mobile device, completely redefining what you can do on a mobile phone.

It will only be available through my cellular provider, Cingular (who are changing their name back to AT&T this year), in either a 4GB or 8GB model.
