Today, in the sweltering heat and humidity of June, I took apart the Ford 8.8″ differential that will be going into the Thunderbird. I removed the 28 spline (at least I’m assuming they’re 28 spline) axles and the posi-traction unit to make way for the Moser Spool & Axle package we’ll be putting in. The axles that came out were 4 lug and I plan on putting in 5 lug axles. Currently, the rear is setup for drum brakes. I haven’t decided if I’ll stay with drum brakes or switch over to discs.
